Residents’ Lifestyle

A HOMELIKE ENVIRONMENT

MZH has an environment that supports residents living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

When you leave the facility for outings or appointments, it is important that nursing staff are advised so your absence can be noted in our records.

VALUABLES

All possible care will be taken with your possessions, but no responsibility can be accepted.  We strongly recommend that you privately insure your valuables and appliances and that all valuables are  placed in the lockable drawer which is provided in each room.

TELEPHONES

You may have a telephone in your room, which requires arrangement by family to install and for billing.

MAIL

incoming mail is distributed daily.  Outgoing mail must be at reception by 4pm

INTERNET ACCESS

Your room will have a unique WIFI network access code provided on admission to which personal devices may be connected.  This service is not available to guests and visitors.

WITNESSING OF DOCUMENTS

Some staff have the authority to witness legal documents but are not obliged to do so.

GIFTS

Staff are able to accept small tokens of appreciation, however monetary gifts are discouraged.

APPOINTMENTS

Relatives or representatives are expected to accompany you on appointments to outside services using private transport, taxis or multipurpose wheelchair taxis.

You may be eligible for the Taxi User’s Subsidy Scheme.  For a small donation, MZH provides the use of a wheelchair accessible vehicle which must be booked at reception in advance.

ALCOHOL

You are free to enjoy your own alcoholic beverages, limited only by the need to ensure the safety of everyone at all times.

CHILDREN

Children are encouraged to visit.

SMOKING

MZH is a smoke-free environment.

Smoking is not permitted inside the facility.  You may be assisted to smoke in the designated outdoor areas if required, however the availability of staff to assist will depend on the care needs of all residents at the time.
